And after nearly a whole summer... [Aug. 21st, 2005|03:43 am]
[mood |Insomnia]
[music |My fan failing to lull me to sleep]

I finally figured out something update worthy. I'm ditching UCI in favor of moving home. At the very least I'm picking a new major, but most likely I'm going to take a couple classes at Mt. SAC and transfer to San Francisco State University, though it will probably take me a year to do so. I really don't like Walnut, but really, Irvine isn't any better, especially since all my good friends are gonna be gone (Well, Carolyn's commuting, but whatever, I doubt I'd see her much). Not to mention that over the last year the only friends I've actually made were my roommates, real or virtual. So fuck this town and fuck this college, I'm out.

Y Halo Dere. [Jun. 20th, 2005|03:38 pm]
[music |Tokyo Jihen]

You know that one scene in High Fidelity, where Catherine Zeta Jones has broken up with him and he's outside screaming at her, "You bitch, we can work it out! Let's talk!" and she comes to the window wearing a sheet and the buff guy comes and pulls her back to bed? Then he's walking home, drenched, and just starts screaming? I think I've been stuck in that kind of feeling for about a year. It's really getting pretty annoying.

Updated journal title/other shit that I don't know the name of. I feel like a special and unique butterfly. Please stamp me.

Also, it will be miraculous if I wake up for my 10AM Japanese class tomorrow. I have pre-sleep doubts of that happening.

Apparently my insomnia has turned into an all-nighter, as it is now 6 AM and I see sunlight. This fucking sucks. I was going to wake up early today for.. uh... an exciting day of killing time playing video games. Shit.

If I can't sleep now someone's gonna die. I don't know who, or when, but at some point in the near future, someone's going down. Maybe the Pope.

Got The Past-3-AM Can't-Sleep Blues [Apr. 1st, 2005|03:46 am]
[mood |insomniac]
[music |Lucky Pierre]

No particular reason for my inability to sleep, I don't think. I mean, I woke up late, but not THAT late. I can usually always sleep by this time. It's more than a little infuriating. Perhaps it's humanity's existential dilemma playing out in my subconscious that's keeping me from my alotted 10 hours.

I could do what I do when I nap and let Lucky Pierre play in the background, but it doesn't actually make me want to sleep. It's just pleasant music for sleeping to.

The absolute best thing about insomnia is there's not a single fuckin' person to talk to.

A Concert. [Feb. 12th, 2005|01:46 pm]
[mood |awake]
[music |Beep Beep]

Went to a Blood Brothers concert last night. I hadn't heard of any of the opening bands but they ranged from decent to pretty fuckin' good.

The Chinese Stars reminded me of The Rapture/The Faint in that they basically played the whole indie-dance-insanity thing, but they weren't that great. The guitar stuff was cool at times and borderline obnoxious others. The singer was an overweight guy who looked like one of my professors from last year but sang in a sort of whining falsetto that was pretty amusing. I think my opinion of them was lowered because they were the last of the opening bands to play and I really liked the first two.

The Mean Reds. I guess you could call them hardcore because of the vocals, but it's odd because they start with really friendly, almost pop-ish introductions in their songs, then go batshit fucking crazy. Or at least that's how they were live. They were pretty good, but definitely odd. They came on stage all dressed in overalls with no shirts on. Apparently the unique costume thing is just what they do, because I think the singer said the last time they played at the venue I went to they were wearing inner tubes. The singer answered questions from the audience, though rarely making much sense. "Oscar Wilde? What about... Auschwitz Gone Wild?" I thoroughly enjoyed them.

I think Beep Beep were my favorite band of the night though. I really have very little idea of how to describe them. They're kind of dance-y, in a crazy kind of way. One of the guitarists came on stage in all-white and this turtle-neck type thing. He wore his guitar ridiculously high and danced around like an idiot, all the while grinning maniacally, when he wasn't going nuts. Listen to some stuff, http://www.ilovebeepbeep.com/ is the site. The stuff they have to download is craptacular quality, so the video's better.

I've Been Productive! [Jan. 18th, 2005|06:04 pm]
[mood |giddygiddy]
[music |A Silver Mt. Zion]

The last weekend Tim, David, and I all hung out and went to the mountains for some sledding, but the night before we basically improvised a bunch of music and recorded it. I find the majority of it to be wholly awesome, but that might just be me being egomaniacal or something, or just boggling because I've never heard anything I've played myself recorded before. But anyways, yeah, if you want to give our lyrical insanity a listen, let me know.
